  • Group of friends

The location is great, the hotel was clean and comfortable and the staff was friendly and polite. Its almost the best one can get within a reasonable range, considering that its inside the main islands and easy to access from the station (one boat trip of 15 minutes). The building was a bit old though and has been renovated to convert it to a hotel, but the rooms are comfortable and very reasonably sized. Highly recommended if you want to stay close to the centre at a reasonable price !!

  • Group of friends

The room was great, and great value. Centrally located. Felt sorry for all those tourists lugging suitcases all over the city. We were so close to the vaporetto stop!!!!

The fact that the address on the information sheet did not coincide with the one on the door left us a little confused. We also were not clear about having to go over to the Hotel Belle Arti for the keys on check-in. The two names are confusing.

  • Older travelers

    friendly staff,good breakfast great location

Hotel annex was open all night corridors were dark so security was a concern.Room was very clean but needed updating

  • Older travelers

very good location, not dificult to find. Good value for money

    Dark, and no view

  • Couple

Location was very good and room was fine.

Check -in -timings are too late...its 1 pm. We were there in the morning around 6.30 am and asked them about the room . The guy at the reception said he can't give us the room until 1 pm. We had to wait there till that time. Its very bad ...we were so tired and I had told them in advance that we would be arriving early morning and will check out also early morning around 6 am. He didn't even check the room availability. Staff is not helpful.

We stayed here for one night. As it is said in the description, the hotel Domus Cavanis actually depends of the hotel Bella Arti. The hotel is well situated, you can leave the luggage at the reception of Bell Arti before cheking-in and after cheking-out. a continental breakfast can be taken on the terass, which is very nice. The bathroom and the room by themselves were very clean and the bed confortable. So in conclusion it was ok, but not "classy" as I was expecting, dont't bring your girlfriend there if you want to make a good surprise, but fine for staying overnight.

It looks like it was not primary designed to be a hotel: the floor in the room is covered with tiles, which are actually the same that in the share corridor. Like somebody just diveded an already existing big room in small hotels rooms. The wall papers were very old and the couch (not the bed) looked like it was used by a big family for years, then put to the rubbish, and then taken to the hotel: it was very dirty and old.

  • Older travelers

we booked to stay in this 3star hotel, but ended up in a building nearby, what did we like, nothing.

the hotel its self looked ok. but the place we stayed in was awful, it felt cold, damp, we were on the 3rd floor, the room had bad vibes, kept the light on all night, pillows were like sacks of cement,by far the worst room I have ever stayed in.Breakfast was not much better.

  • Family with children

Very quiet and peaceful, overlooking a lovely courtyard. Excellent buffet breakfast included in price

  • Older travelers

Too much noise while other guests shut and open the door of their rooms, cold water in shower (2 mornings), dusty surfaces - under bed and on top of the waredrobe, bed-clothes - uncomfortable pillows

  • Group of friends

    The breakfasts, especially the criossants

  • Couple

It is close by Ponte de Accademia where you can cross the Grand Canal and nearby other monuments in the city center. Breakfast was good and staff were kind and welcoming.

  • Group of friends

Excellent location.Very nice outside patio.Good breakfast.(we stayed at Bellle arte)

  • Group of friends

The hotel reception and breakfast were very good and considerate, the fact that they were across the street had no problem once there's no cars in the island and is really close. Also the hotel takes you to the Murano island and has a guided tour through a glass factory for free, he just doesn't bring you back...

The room was good and spacious, but there were lots of dead and alive mosquitoes through the walls and ceiling. It was a bit cold, because there were two radiators that didn't work and a split that had hot and cold, but just the cold would work. Also was very bright in day light because the windows didn't have blackouts. The hotel could also send indication on which vaporeto stop(Accademia) should we stop.

  • Group of friends

Close to the Accademia Gallery and Accademia Port. Close to a bridge that crosses the river to the main city centre. Good breakfast service. Hotel service/staff were helpful.

30min walk from train/bus shuttle station, otherwise it's 6.50euros for a trip along the river to Accademia port.

For the type of establishment this is --a low-priced annex to a three-star hotel, but in a great place -- this was quite good value and more than I expected. The room was clean and comfortable with a large bed, small desk and chair, and a large closet for clothing. The breakfast, at the parent-hotel across the road was more varied than most I have had in Italy. The biggest advantage, however, was that it was half-way between the Zattare and Accademia vaporetto stops -- about 3 to 5 minutes to each, and near some very good places to eat. I chose this based on a recommendation from the hotel I usually stay at, which was full because of the conference. I am very satisfied.

The disconcerting part was returning late at night, picking up the key at the hotel across the road (it is very common to have to turn in the key when one leaves the room in an Italian hotel), and then find the door open, the former hotel-lobby empty of all people and signs of life, the former bar empty, all dimly lit, and going through to the dimly lit hallways to get to one's room. For other travellers, when you make a problem, or find a problem, please tell the staff so that they can fix it! A previous occupant had broken the tiny shower's door leading to flooding of the floor whenever I used it. The staff had to be told of the problem and a noisy fan in order to know to fix them. They were quick to try to fix these and please me.
